It’s my first time taking Air Austral. Not sure why, but nowadays I am a bit skeptical of flight safety after seeing Ethiopia Airlines and Lion Air crashes with the 737 Max plane.
The entire plane is full of French people. For a moment, I forget I am still in Africa.

Creole, French, and English are all official languages here. The Creole spoken here in the Seychelles is influenced by both East African and French languages.
Upon arrival, I intend to take a bus to the hotel. The taxis here are privately owned, so they charge whatever price they want, usually 50 euros for a 25 minute ride. The public bus is only $0.5, or 7 rupees. That’s 100 times cheaper! I decide to ask one of the travel service agents how to get to my hotel and he tells me I will need to take 2 transfers, but because today is Easter, the bus will only run once an hour. After we chat for a bit, he offers to take me there for free! So nice! He asks me to get into a van, but there are lots of other people waiting too. We set off and after a short while the driver drops all the passengers off at a ferry port. I’m a little confused, but in the end, the driver continues on to take me to my hotel. We drive through mountains and hills and arrive on the other side of the coast. It’s really beautiful. When I get out of the van, the tour guide offers to pick me up again at the end of my trip for free! He says that all the other passengers need to be picked up anyway. Such a lucky start to my trip!
